in the entrance to  HOWE SOUND lie three diverse islands BOWEN, GAMBIER and KEATS ~ summer breezes  that blow between the islands make HOWE SOUND a sailor’s delight
 
 
day 1 SNUG COVE, bowen island... page 44

BOWEN ISLAND is only 9 nautical miles from downtown VANCOUVER and SNUG COVE is a great first stop to help mend the stresses of life. On approach keep lookout for the frequent HORSESHOE BAY ferry that enters the cove. As the UNION STEAMSHIP MARINE RESORT is a popular destination be sure to call ahead and secure a berth for the night. Promenade on the waterfront boardwalk and delight in the charms of “downtown” BOWEN ISLAND with its choice of local shops, galleries, pubs, bistros and restaurants. 
 
take a hike on the well-marked trails and discover the islands lakes and beaches 
 
 
day 2 PORT GRAVES, gambier island ...page 55
 
brush up on those sailing skills before heading into PORT GRAVES where you can practice anchoring in a large, laid-back anchorage ~ laze in the cockpit or hike the well-worn trails to LOST LAKE
 
 
day 3 GIBSONS LANDING .... page 70 
 
moorage is available at the HARBOUR AUTHORITY MARINA and GIBSONS MARINA ~ in the busy summer months reservations are recommend ~ dine at the original MOLLY'S REACH, the home of the BEACHCOMBERS or at one the eclectic mix of restaurants
 
buy fresh fish and prawns from the work boats and enjoy the many shops, cafés and art galleries filled with local work 
 
 
day 4 PLUMPER COVE MARINE PARK, keats island ...page 60 
 
as the breeze fills in enjoy a sail over to this well established marine park
 
as it’s a local favourite, be sure to arrive early to pick up a park’s buoy or tie up at the park floats ~ hike the pleasant circular trail, picnic in the 90-year old orchard and explore the shoreline by dinghy or kayak
 
return to VANCOUVER the following morning via COLLINGWOOD CHANNEL
